RE: NES 5th Grade Math Teacher (Job ID 24841)

Dear Principal Negussie:

Although I understand that the 5th Grade Math Teacher position has already been filled, I am submitting my application to ensure that you have my information on file for future openings at Neff Elementary School.

I am currently enrolled in the Region 4 Inspire Texas Educator Preparation Program to earn my certification in Math for Grades 4-8. As part of this program, I am completing my clinical teaching requirement in the classroom of Amy Chea, a 5th grade math teacher at Neff Elementary. I expect to receive my teaching certification by June 2025.

One of the things that I am most passionate about is fostering enthusiasm for math in my students. During my lessons, I witness a healthy sense of competition as students eagerly raise their hands to answer questions. While I circulate around the room, they are excited to share their work with me. In front of their peers, they engage in meaningful discussions about different problem-solving approaches. These positive classroom dynamics help my students to excel on assessments and deepen their understanding of math.

I am well-prepared to teach math. My rigorous academic training continued through my doctoral studies. A lifelong education in math has given me a strong foundation in mathematical concepts, and I am confident in my ability to explain math clearly and accurately.

As a former professor at Stanford University with a deep commitment to literacy and numeracy, I am dedicated to guiding students toward a well-rounded education. My time at Stanford also highlighted the importance of fostering diversity and inclusion in academia, and I now aspire to make an impact at the foundational stages of education by serving students from diverse backgrounds.

Thank you for the opportunity to train at Neff Elementary and discover my passion for teaching in the classroom. I hope to contribute to your school’s success in the future.

Sincerely,

Camilla M. Kao
