Declaration

I am Camilla (Cammy) Mei-Fang Kao. I am 53 years old. By now I should have a remarkable career at some profession. I have the capacity.

At this time, there is at least one subject that can interest me, Cammy Kao: Robert Redford’s youth. The actor is astoundingly beautiful to watch during his 30’s and 40’s, this time period being approximately 1969 to 1985 as measured by his notable films (eg Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Out of Africa). My interest now in that one subject matter must come from my seeking to join Robert Redford being like a math proof illustrated, one which can be observed eternally, to Cammy Kao being like her math proof illustrated, able to wear pretty dresses on a body weighing between 110 and 115 pounds, vigorous at the beginning of July 12, 2022.

As a new fan of Robert Redford’s, starting with his interview for the Kunhardt Film Foundation and subsequently with his film All the President’s Men, I, Cammy Kao, am trying to understand why he as an actor is so interesting to watch. This endeavor causes me to thank him for being someone who is interested in his “the other person”, that is, the person who sits opposite to him in conversation. During an interview when an opportunity arises, the interviewer shares a personal perspective and he reverses the momentum of the discussion by asking, “Oh, really?” It helps if the interviewer is very, very smart. Those interviews I enjoy watching the most.

I am used to being surrounded by quiet. I don’t like the television. I like to keep to myself, yet am comfortable around people who are, as a consequence of their high intelligence, very funny. I like theories and philosophies and definitions, especially if they are embodied by a person and explained to me. For example, someone once told me that mathematics is a person’s interpretation of reality. I prize the writing well-written. I admire the making, doing of things by hand in order to achieve something that is energetically held.

It seems to me that Robert Redford’s persona has something to do with the clarity of his thinking, his individualism, his interest in his conversational partner, and his shyness, which he lets be. My favorite clip to watch of him is the one that shows his receiving the Academy Award for Best Director in 1981 (4:59 minutes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Trc1lkc6Lo. His shyness (you can see) is felt (by him). He knows that he must speak(, he knows how to speak), and he does (speak).
